Montréal lives in the heart of a poem. Montréal is the atmosphere of intrigue enveloping novels and stories. When a play opens, Montréal becomes the set.
As a part of «Montréal, capitale mondiale du livre» the Union des écrivaines et des écrivains québécois (UNEQ) has assembled over 200 works of Québec fiction inspired by Montreal and written in French between 1940 and 2005. The Quebec writers' Federation has selected 30 more books written in English.
UNEQ and the QWF wants to stress that this is not a complete survey. Rather it is a quick portrait of our literature.
